what would be the simplist way to have a onclick function when someone types into a input field and they click the submit button. And whatever they typed would be generated?

Or maybe just sent to another page/function?. . . from what you tell us all we know is that they can type into the textbox, hit the submit button, and then something is supposed to happen . . . but you don't specify what.
