add tag to field issue!

ok – sounds easy enough but it just wont work! can’t even get any text to stay in the field???

document.form1.exhibinfo.value=”!!! “+3;
alert(“!!!”);

the !!! appears in the field when called – but only when the alert is still up. As soons as i close the alert it disappears from the field!

any ideas?

@gil_davisAug 09.2006 — You are probably submitting the field when you hit the "enter" key, and you probably have no "action" attribute on the form so it submits to itself which reloads the page and clears the field.
