I have been using a php stat script which is developed by non-english speaking authors. I am looking to switch to something more current with a better support structure.
Visitor stats of as much detail as possible. Browser, client, spiders, queries.. etc.
I understand that SQL based stats are faster therefore I suppose the only consideration is logfile size. In which case I would want as much detail as possible. ?
However I believe I read somewhere that flat file stats would be slower or not so realtime as opposed to SQL based stats. Its very possible that I am mistaken.
However, this isn't the point of the post. ?
If there are non-SQL stat plugins that are as good or better, I'd gladly like to hear about them.
@bokehJul 10.2006 — #Your apache log can be customised to gather any statistic available to any other method. Using SQL based stats means the the database has to be raised for every single page load.
@bokehJul 10.2006 — #Analog is an excellent log enterpreting tool. Or you could write your own as I did for this page
@supersteve3dauthorJul 11.2006 — #Thanks. Analog looks interesting, however it looks like it doesnt have a special entry for spiders and search engine info. I was hoping for a more detailed stat application.
As to writing my own, unfortunately I am a complete beginner at php etc. so its unlikely. ?
