how to change browser default actio with objects ??

My browser ( IE ) is set to download ” WMV ” files automatically
i want them to be displayed in the browser ..

how to do ????

Is there someway (e.g using javascript ) to determine the action of the browser to the object either by playing in browser or by downloading it while designing the page ???

@David_HarrisonMay 21.2006 — Moved to the General forum, this has nothing to do with accessibility, please put more thought into your choice of forum next time.

@David_HarrisonMay 21.2006 — I have no idea, I don't use Internet Explorer, though there's probably a setting somewhere in the options to always play video files in a browser window.

Alternatively you could always use a better browser.

@felgallMay 21.2006 — IE6 has around 700+ security holes that Microsoft know of that have not been patched. The main purpose of IE7 is to patch many of these security holes that require a major browser rewrite to correct. Other browsers have only a handful of unpatched security holes that are known about but yet to be patched at any one time.

To get particular filetypes to be handled automatically by IE you just need to install an appropriate plugin into the browser.

@ray326May 22.2006 — Do you mean you want to create a page where WMV files are displayed in an embedded media player? IE can't display video any other way; it has to launch a media player application to handle the stream.

Thank u , but this is not what i mean

What i mean is that i want to change the default setting of the browser from diplaying the media file inside the browser , and force it to download this file !

@ray326May 23.2006 — That's up to the browser and system configuration of the user.

@ray326May 24.2006 — I have no idea. My IE always launches a media player unless the item is embedded in a page.
