The overflow-y
property is used when a block-level element overflows at the top and bottom edges to designate whether the overflow content should be clipped, a scroll bar added, or displayed.
Examples:
div.one {
overflow-y: scroll;
}
div.two {
overflow-y: hidden;
}
div.three {
overflow-y: auto;
}
div.four {
overflow-y: visible;
}
visible
Default value. Overflow content is not clipped and may be rendered outside of the content box.
hidden
Overflow content is clipped without any scroll bars.
scroll
Overflow content is clipped and a scrolling mechanism is rendered.
auto
Should render a scrolling mechanism for overflowing content.
initial
Sets the property to its default value.
inherit
Inherits this property’s value from its parent item.
