This property sets whether neighboring borders in a table should collapse in a single border or to be separated.
The border-collapse
property has two possible effective values – whether the borders should be separated and based on each cell individually, or whether borders that in the same intercellular space should collapse into a single border.
/* Setting a specific border-collapse value: */
border-collapse: collapse;
border-collapse: separate;
/* using global CSS keywords */
border-collapse: inherit;
border-collapse: initial;
separate
This is the default value. This will cause the borders to be separated and each cell within a table will display its own borders.
collapse
With this value, neighboring borders will collapse into a single border whenever possible. When this value is used the border-spacing
and empty-cells
properties will have no effect.
initial
Global CSS keyword – this sets the property to the default value.
inherit
Global CSS keyword – this sets the property to be inherited from its parent element.
