What's that comment about? It costs money to send a SMS, MMS, text message, etc. Why should there be a provider that gives them away for free? You'll see that cingular/verizon/sprint/alltel in the US allow you to send a text message for free via their systems to their subscribers only. SMS providers perform a service and deserve to be paid for it.

Yep. They all work differently. At the simplest level they'll tell you about a db they have to queue up the messages and they have a script that goes in and sends them.
