Advanced search builder

Hi

I have to build a search tool to search a database, but the user wants to search in like a million different ways. So I wanted to come up with a cool solution, that is useable but also powerful.

Basiaclly I need some inspiration ? I was wondering if anyone has been any search tools, preferably AJAX, where the user can build complex searches easily. I was thinking about having the search fields on the side, then the user could drag the field name onto the search form and then configure that field. I dunno, just ideas but like I said, if anyone has seen any cool example let me know ?
