html aliasing with notepad? breaking and padding?!? word wrap?

ok i like to use notepad to code html. what i notice is i often get
un-intentional breaks and padding with (images) mostly.

i write code but it wont show properly unless I take off word wrap!! ? so i have this huge string of code, i cannot hit my ENTER KEY or else my code splits up when viewing on a browser!!! am I missing a tag? or is notepad glitched? is there a easier or better text editor to code html in?

You can put new lines in between the attributes of an element -- they won't be displayed. For example:

href="http://www.google.com/">Google</a>
