Anchors work but then jump back to top of page when done loading in firefox…

Hi all,
First off, I’d just like to introduce myself as i am new to the forums…
My name is Aleks and I am a web designer/developer and multimedia artist.

I am currently encountering a weird problem wherein anchors and javascript scrolling in my page don’t work properly.

I have a flash movie at the top of my page with menu options.

The links include php pages within my site, and anchors so that it drops down to that height when it loads…
which it does… but as soon as the page is finished loading, it jumps back to the top again!!!

I have also tried calling the links using Javascript’s scroll function to bring the user down to the appropriate height and the same thing happens…. I am totally baffled.

I thought maybe delaying the java until the page is loaded but my site is one of those that is always “transferring data” in the status bar…

I know the anchors work fine from the same link once the page is loaded, but thats not helpful with what I am trying to do…

Again, the effect is the same whether i use anchors or javascript scroll in firefox… it does work but when page is loaded it goes back to the top…. anchors don’t work in explorerer always, and javascript scroll (0,600) always works in explorer only.

If anyones had this before, any input on this annoying problem would be much appreciated…. ? 😡 ? ?

@johnevaMar 15.2006 — I wont be able to help ya but I know what the first thing the others will say is, URL would make things easyer at the min we carnt see the page or the coding so trying to fix faults is almost imposiable.

I have figured out the issue...

in a page that has flash communicating serverside to php that finds itself always "transferring data" in the status bar... it steals focus and pulls the browser back up to the top of the page where the flash movie is embedded even after the link with the anchor or javascript scrolls it down in firefox. This problem does not occur in IE or netscape.

Hope that if anyone has had this problem google will guide them here.
