Is it possible to access the text of an input button?

Hello, i have some input buttons on my site that i want to use graphics on. My boss says i cannot use input type=”image”, because he wants it to be completely css. So i am wondering if it is possible to access the text of a input button. Not just with color:#ffffff or font-weight:bold, etc, but i actually need to move the text a bit using position:relative. Is there any syntax that i can use to access this?
