apache/xampp issue

I’m using xampp from apachefriends.org for my server and it is up and running. I opened the browser and put 127.0.0.1 as the url and it took me to index.php where a menu was displayed. The status reads mysql,php,apache are all activated. I have been placing my html and php files in htdocs. How do I browse my site? If I open my files with the browser all the html is fine however no php is being dispayed. If I type the URL in to view my site on the server it will not display or maybe I have the path wrong. I’ve tried several paths and cannot get it to pull the site up. Anyone have any suggestions?

@NogDogMar 02.2006 — Usually you can go to http://localhost/file.php (or http://localhost/directory/file.php where "directory" would be a directory just under the htdocs directory).

@MantisauthorMar 04.2006 — Thanks. Common sense prevails. For some reason I was wanting to make it more complicated and use localhost/xampp/file.php as the path. It's all clear to me now. Threw me for a loop when you type localhost it takes you farther down a tree under xampp therefore I figured my files would have to be under /xampp/ if "localhost" instantly takes me there. Still new to the server side thing and the mentality. There really isn't very good documentation with xampp at least in english. Seems pretty well put together for the most part. I notice funny little things that will make the GUI crash but making progress none the less.
