How to allow visitors to post a message/note on my site

hello,

i have a small webpage and would like to allow visitor to leave me a note, feedback, etc

for example, when posting a new thread on this page, you’re presented with a text editor. you type or paste what you want to say and click “submit” or “post”.

i want to be able to do something like that. it doesn’t have to be as perfect and complicated as it’s on this site.

any ideas?
thanks

@felgallFeb 08.2006 — You will need a server side language to do that on your own site. Alternatively you could link to a third party service from somewhere like Bravenet.

thanks for the response.

like i said i don't want something that complicated. i just want to be able to to allow visitors to leave me a note (like a "signing a guess book"). i want to do that using HTML.

does this clarify the situation?

thanks

@OziFeb 08.2006 — yeah, you have to have a small program installed on your webserver and some code to allow visitors to leave a amessage. frontpage does this nicely for you, but this is HTML section so im no help here.

you could try something like freegb.net i think, it is outside your website but you can have your own specific page.

i hop this helps m8

There is no way to do it with html. felgall gave you the only options.

Javascript can only do so much;

To achieve the result you want, Server-Side Scripting must be used. This dosent mean you have to learn PHP or anything just get some free forum software:

http://www.phpbb.com/

Or if serverside technologies are not available, get a remotly hosted forum.
