How to get the OS Type?

Hi All

is there any function or any mechanism in php to get the OS Type of the server.

@NogDogFeb 04.2006 — All I can think of is to parse the value of $_SERVER['SERVER_SOFTWARE'] which will look something like:
<i>
</i>Apache/1.3.33 [color=red](Unix)[/color] mod_log_bytes/0.3 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635
PHP/4.3.11 mod_ssl/2.8.22 OpenSSL/0.9.7g
