Refreshing PDF documents

I have a simple site on our intranet for accessing standing physician’s orders. These are PDF files stored on the server. The web page basically just provides a link to the PDF file.

These orders are modified and updated regularly. However, the nurses aren’t always seeing the current order, because they’re browser is showing them cached version.

Is there a way to ensure that everytime they access an order, they retrieve the file from the server and not from the local cache? Is the “Check for newer version of stored pages”, “Every visit to the page”, adequate to ensure this?

@ray326Feb 03.2006 — On a LAN it should be but I'd test it to make sure. Also, try adding the cache control meta tags to the page of links. Anything better will require something more dynamic on the server side.

@ht1815authorFeb 03.2006 — The properties setting did appear to work on my PC. The meta tags didn't work. Well, thanks for replying. We'll just have to see if the properties setting solves the problem for everyone.
