Browser won’t display files with .php extension

I’m going through a tutorial on PHP, and my browser will not open any file with a .php extension. I do not have a problem with my computer at work. Is there a setting in my browser that I need to change in order to view my files?

@NogDogJan 22.2006 — You need a web server installed on your PC (as well as PHP, of course). If you don't, check out [url=http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html]XAMPP[/url].
