Rendering HTML inside a textarea

I want to have a textarea that renders HTML. I have seen editors that do this (Tiny MCE, etc) but they are very complex. I dont want the user to have the power to edit the content themselves but just want to render the HTML inside a uneditable textarea. Is there a simple way to do this?
