removing page breaks from a var

if i were to have a var that got the .innerHTML of something like the body(document.body.innerHTML) and i wanted to remove the page breaks that are inside the code(that usually separate each tag), how would i do this?

Thanks in advance.

<i>
</i>myVar=myVar.replace(/n|r/g,'');

p.s. would adding the string "nr" to a var insert a page break?
