Redirecting search engines to new site?

Hi,

I’ve been using the webspace thrown in with my internet access package for
years and I have now copied that site to a proper ‘paid for’ web hosting
company. All good so far. ?

I’m still getting an awful lot of traffic going to my first site as its very
well listed by all the search engines.

I can easily redirect my visitors to my new site. However…. how can I get
the search engines to list the url of the new site?

TIA for reading and any help you can give.

@proinetJan 08.2006 — You want to do a 301 perminent redirect. This tells the search engines that the page has moved to the new location perminently, and they will update their database accordingly.

There are several ways to accomplish this, and will depend on what is available on your server. Ask your tech support folks, they should be able to lend a hand.
