strange error with onsubmit

i have a page inside a frame
and inside this page i have a form with the line

[code=php]onSubmit=”return false;”[/code]

i recive an error
the error says ” end of sentence missing”
when i remove the “;” everything is ok but when i press to submit the form it submit’s the form
althought i have “return false”
what going onm?
