subdomain not being indexed

About three moths ago I published a site which is hosted in a subdomain. At that time I submitted the site to Google, Yahoo, and other search engines.

So far it has not been indexed by any search engine, nor visited by any indexing bots or anything of the sort.

I am starting to wonder if there might be any DNS, domain name or IP problem that is preventing this from happening. The parent domain does show up on Google tho.

I am not particularly saavy at these things, so I would appreciate any help/ideas you can offer.

@MstrBobDec 30.2005 — Do you have a link to the site in question?

You know a lot of people always complain of their sites not getting indexed. First off, just because you submitted your site for index is no guarantee of indexing. Imagine how many submissions they get? Yeah, they even tell you not to rely on this. The best way to get indexed and to get visitors is quality links. If you have reputable websites linking to your content (and you need content of course) then the search engines will find your website and so will visitors. If you have a website with zero incoming links, how can search engines find you?

Plus, a lot of people say they're not indexed when they actually are. They just don't show up with the particular search terms they are using, or perhaps don't show up very high, but they are indexed. Remeber there are sooooooooooooo many sites, search engines have two jobs: (1) Find Websites and Index them (2) Return the most relevant websites for a user's search term. Is your site relevant?

Being a subdomain won't have much of an impact, though. If your settings are messed up, you'll know, because you won't be able to access your website either.

@elgato65authorDec 30.2005 — Well, it wasn't a complain, more of a concern really.

The site, although new, has a growing number of links from other related sites pointing to it.

At this point, I am not concerned with accuracy of search terms.

I find it strange that typing the exact URL of the site still returns a no valid response from Google.

Also, what do you mean by "messed up settings"

Thanks.
