Display Current User List

I’m looking for a bit of code that puts a popup prompt to get the user’s name, and then adds it to a list of the people that are viewing the site.
The idea is that there is a list or box that shows the guest who is on the site at any given time. If someone leaves the site, their name is removed from the list.
Could someone point me into the right direction? I have little/no javascript coding experience and was hoping it has already been developed…the prompt seems simple enough but I don’t know how to create a “monitor” to see if the users are still looking at the site.

@felgallDec 28.2005 — That's on the client. You need a server side language suxh as ASP.NET, PHP, Coldfusion or JSP to do what you are asking.
