Disable 3rd party pop-ups?

On my homepage I have a 3rd party script (for visitor stats) that is sometimes being abused by the stats-company to also open pop-ups with advertisements.
Naturally the best way to get rid of these pop-ups would be to remove the script altogether, but I am quite satisfied with their visitor-counting services.
Does anyone know a way to disable these pop-ups without changing the stats-script?

I was thinking of something like this, but it doesn’t seem to work:
if (window.open) return false;
@JPnycDec 21.2005 — If you're not paying for their service, then the popups are an evil you have to deal with. That's how they're compensated for the service they're providing. If you ARE paying for the service, then I'd find another one right away. They have no right to force popups on a paying client

@mmotestauthorDec 21.2005 — I'm not paying for their service but the company in question was already being compensated in many other ways. These pop-ups are a recent addition and thousands of users had not been informed of this.

Apart from the question of wether one should except this from a free service, I think that nobody should ever use pop-ups because everybody hates them.

Do you think I am a thief for trying to disable pop-ups on my homepage?

Does providing a free service grant you the right to abuse peoples homepage this way and without notification?

Is this still the JavaScript forum?

@CharlesDec 21.2005 — An old friend of mine has a charming wife and I'm afraid that I a bit too taken with her. She's very charming and I'm sure that I would be quite satisfied with her services.

That service isn't free. Those pop ups are at least a part of the price that you are expected to pay.

@JPnycDec 21.2005 — Actually if you use their service and you aren't paying then yes, it would be theft if you disable their revenue generating ads. As such we cannot aid you, here. Sorry. Thread closed.
