. I saw a recent message here mentioning that Google is giving greater value to a site’s Alexa Ranking. So,…How do you increase a site’s Alexa ranking?

Also, I would love a comment on my thread posted yesterday about “hot” links and what is required for link to be given value by Google.

Thanks

@EasyWebDec 20.2005 — Hi I placed the article about Alexa first you have to make sure your sites listed on Alexa Http://www.alexa.com they have a tab on top of the search bar "traffic report" click that enter the URL of your site press go and it will give you a report on your site theres also a link to get more detailed information on your site.

This information you should then use to try and lift your ranking one of the most important indicators is the speed of your site (slow sites rank lower) and the traffic trends they give a very thorough report on your sites internet presence and behaviour and Google take all this information into account when they rank your site (if they rank it). I would suggest you go to Alexa.com have a good look around and take advantage of one or more of the free tools they have on offer.

@felgallDec 21.2005 — Alexa rankings are determined by the number of your visitors who have the Alexa toolbar installed. This will mean that anyone with a spyware removal program on their computer will not be counted as the Alexa toolbar is considered to be spyware. The count is only accurate for the top 10000 or so sites since those lower down wont have a representative percentage of their visitors with the toolbar.

@EasyWebDec 23.2005 — you're right Felgall but it still doesn't explain why Google for some insane reason has started taking more notice of your alexa rank

@johnfloydauthorDec 23.2005 — I recently installed Alexa Toolbar and it loaded me up with all sorts of spyware and started slowing me down. I ran a couple spyware programs and removed it all and things were back to normal. I don't understand why anyone would use this tool bar at the time?

@felgallDec 23.2005 — None of the articles I have seen about the changes to the way Google works out where to place you in their results make any mention of Alexa. They would have no reason to take Alexa into account at all except as a competitor.
