Select form elements showing "through" div above it in IE

Has anyone else come across a situation where you have a div that is displayed over some other content, but the select elements are showing through the overlayed div? This is only happening on IE (I am using 6.0), and not on Firefox. I have a z-index for my overlayed div set to 150, but it still does not seem to help.

For example, I have a div that is used to display messages to a user when they click a certain icon. This div is shown above my content area (which contains a form), but when the div is set to display: block to be visible, the select boxes of the form below show through my messages div.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can correct this?

@wood_tahauthorDec 16.2005 — Thanks for the quick response.

From what I read in your other posts, it does not seem as if there are too many options for correcting this, and the options that are there are not very feasible to implement.

If anyone else has any other options for this, I would be glad to hear about them.
