‘crossobj’?

I find references and uses of this “object” in nearly every scrap of sample code I encounter, yet I find it NOWHERE in any Standards definition…. it is not HTML or DOM standard and it is not a Javascript element….

what the devil is it? where is it defined?

i am about to go out of my mind searching.
