changing maxLength in Opera.

Hi All,
Dynamically changing the text box maxlength property using Javascript statement [B]document.formname.textboxname.maxLength = 12;[/B] not working in Opera.My Opera version is 8.01,any work around for this?.I’m changing the maxLength when a selectbox value changes.
