searching files in a web folder

Hi all,

i am currently ask to do a searching for files (3000 plus) in a web folder. I am currently on a school industrial attachment programme. Due to my java knowledge is very limited. Can someone help me pls.?

Requirements:
Juz a simple search for the file name and the file will appear, when u click it can open the file.
All the files are 4 by 4. Eg. 0110-1456 (so there will be two textboxes to accept the input)
All the files name are unique

ur help will greatly be appreciated.

@phpnoviceApr 14.2006 — Considering that your post was viewed 79 times (but noone answered it), I'm surprised -- because the first part of the answer is easy. That is, that JavaScript cannot help you with this issue because JavaScript has no file access methods. The only file requests that JavaScript can make are HTTP CGI requests for a web document. JavaScript also cannot read server folder directories. Server-side code is requred for all of this.
