@konithomimoNov 22.2005 — It isnt possible. you can prevent right clicking, but you cannot prevent them from viewing your source. Whenever the browser loads a page that pages code is saved into a temp file on the user's computer. No matter what you do the user will be able to get at it. If you dont want people using your content then don't put it online.

@Jdude217Nov 22.2005 — yeaa, i agree. If you go to our website www.usflag.com you will see that our home page has disabled right clicking but that still does not stop people from stealing images or code. images are easy to steal thanks to "print screen" on the keyboard. anyone that know how to use photoshop can easily steal pictures at any time.

@AmazingAntNov 23.2005 — hey- knowing that the norightclick thing on Jdude's page is a javascript code, he probably should by now know that some people use plug-ins for their internet browsers that stop all javascript code from working. Like for example, if you use Firefox, you can easily install and use the plug-in "NoScript". So to add on to the whole problem about finding source code, even some small attempts to lessen the copying and use of code is not always going to work. Which we all know really sucks.

@deejaybetNov 23.2005 — umm sorry to spoil the buzz here but there is a way to disable the viewing of the source code in IE... i don't know the code so don't ask me about it but i remember a site that had that... possibly the type of website ege it cud have been php the best id say wud be a flash site as you can get the files or pictures (with the exception of print screen)

edit: forgot to mention that there is a way of stopping people with javascript disabled from viewing your site also lol and another thing is that by using a script to stop people from right clicking DOESNT stop them from copy and pasting

@konithomimoNov 23.2005 — We are aware of that, but as I said before, once a web page is loaded in your browser the code for that page is saved on your computer in a temp file. If someone wanted your code that bad then they would either find the file or use another browser other than IE to view your page. TO get passed that you could let only IE users vew your page, but people get around that by having IE plugins, which you then have to look for and realize that they are not actually IE. SO basically, trying to hide your code is pointless. There are many ways to get the code from a site.

True, but if that was really an issue then you would just put a layer over your content. The only way to get any text/images then is to print screen or find the source code and then get the images directly from its location on the server.

@deejaybetNov 23.2005 — yeh suppose dats true lol... so that passically ends this topic as the first question was Stopping Copy And Pasting... to stop copy and pasting... like you say.. use layers

@Stephen_PhilbinNov 23.2005 — You can't stop anyone from doing anything with your page once they have it. If you're so ashamed of your markup you don't want people to see it then don't put it on the web.

The user didnt mean copying and pasting from the page. They meant preventing people from viewing the source in a text editor such as notepad and then copying/pasting (or in essence saving) the code.

But as I said earlier (in agreeance with Stephen) if you don't want others to use your code then don't put your site online.

@Jdude217Nov 28.2005 — there is a way to disable the view source button or any button you want to for that matter. my friend has been working with hacking his xp registry by writing a code in notepad (fairly simple) and has done all kinds of cool stuff. the only problem his that he has to enable it first or turn it on himself. if there was a way when someone came to your website it would automatically enable the code it could possibly work but that is probably getting into some advanced programming. besides., that wouldnt be very cool because you wouldnt only be disabling view source for your website but any other websites the user went to!... which is basically putting a virus on there computer, so i guess that one is outta the question, lol
