Creating an interactive menu? Help?

I’m trying to create a simple menu but since I don’t know javascript, I’m not quite qualified in creating one, but I’m learning. I can understand javascript as its quite similar to other languages I’ve studied. So if you guys could help me it would mean alot to me, I need it for my webpage.

Ok think of a menu with two buttons, lets call them Button1 and Button2

Button1 || Button2 ||

Its basicly a table, once you click Button1 it turns black and the text white, and its liek if its selected. Then a small bar appears under it, abit like the following:

Element1 || Element2 || Element 3 ||
————————————

and antoher bar for Button2.

Thats what I’m trying to accomplish, could you guys give me an example? That would be great if you could ?
