Trying to post sites with flash on search engines

I have a bit of a problem trying to bring up the web sites I’ve made with Swish (flash) movies in them. Basically the sites are made up of 1 to 3 small flash movies and mostly html.

I havn’t looked into buying a multiple search engine submitting program yet beceause I’m not sure if there’s one out there that can successfully list a flash/html site.

I did a little research and found out that the spiders sent out by the search engines to pull up your site (with your specific search words) identify the flash movies as one large image. I guess this can be a big problem when it comes to getting them to show up in search engines.

I’ve added all the proper meta tag info to each site which I hoped would help but it hasn’t made any difference at all in getting them to show up. Here are a couple of the sites I’m trying to get to show up. There has to be a way!

@Klyve1Apr 28.2003 — Very few SE's now even bother with the meta tags and rely upon title, headings (h1, h2 etc) and content. You need to look into some real content for your pages (200 words or so) filled with your keywords and matching your headings and title tag.

Major SE's also look for what your links out are and who links back to you - and what words are used as the link.

I.e. if you sold software a link saying "Great deals at Joe Bloggs" will be very poor in relation to "Computer Software Deals".

There is a lot to learn about SE promotion, try searching the web for "search engine optimisation".

Good luck

@nittynickauthorApr 28.2003 — Thanks for your advice... when you say that I should add content to my site that contains keywords what exactly do you mean. Please excuse my not knowing!

@Klyve1Apr 28.2003 — Content is basically lots of words on each page that has your desired words (what you think people would search for you with) within it, preferrably all together.

I took a quick look at justlikehomeseniors.ca, here's a very short rundown on it...

1) It uses frames and SE's hate these!

2) The links on the HP popup and have hardly any content.

3) The information page has lots of 'content' that would be easy to re-write to be more 'SE' useful but it is effectively hidden from SE's by being in a frame.

Basically this ste needs to have the frames removed and then the content altered a tad.

@nittynickauthorApr 28.2003 — Thanks for expanding on the content info. Your right I should get rid of the frames. Thanks again!
