Rounded corners on tables

I read the html goodies’s guide for making rounded corners for tables. I knew how to create the graphics, but I still am puzzled at how to insert it into the table. Someone help? ?

@LiLcRaZyFuZzYNov 13.2005 — you should not use tables for layout, just for tabular data.

For this you can use <div> tags

here is an example on how to: http://kalsey.com/2003/07/rounded_corners_in_css/

And here's a link you might find helpful along with the one you already mentioned:

@Compguy_PeteNov 15.2005 — Time for my 2cents...

Table layouts are a starting point for every designer... I would have think that everyone should start out designing their first couple sites with tables... Mainly because there are so many other things you need to learn and pick up before you can move on to using CSS. I've been doing this for years and I still fall back on doing table layouts when time is an issue. Frankly with tweaking the margins and positions I could have done 3 other layouts easy with using a table method.

So with a user name like "jackz15", I might think that this person is still learning and we should do everything in our power and ablity to help him/her out. Sure mention hey don't do tables but if you must, here is how you do it.

@LiLcRaZyFuZzYNov 15.2005 — Well, you'll have to admit that it is easier to do rounded corner boxes in CSS then it is with table, so, why not learn the correct stuff right away?

@Compguy_PeteNov 16.2005 — because the other way is not wrong... you have to admit that...

it's just another way. Since the Validator says it's ok doesn't mean it's wrong.

IT's to hard to learn CSS if you dont have a strong basis in HTML. It's like learning how to drive with never riding in a car.

@KeveyNov 16.2005 — I agree with Compguy Pete and Fuzzy...

I agree with Pete that people shouldn't be penalized for using tables, even if they are "only for tabular data". Most of the folks here are purists when it comes to design...sometimes the people asking the questions just want a page that works and aren't interested in following the true path to perfection...which is why I hate seeing a noob write in and ask how to fix a simple problem only to be told "Validate your code and then come back and ask"...that's a BS answer.

I agree with Fuzzy that we should design per specs when we can; that's why there are specs. I used to love tables, but now that I have been learning CSS I have absolutely no use for tables...in fact, I think Fuzz helped me along and took part in my brainwashing. ?
