Saving form data with Firefox platform.

I know how to save form information in IE using the Snapshot class for Persisting Form Data.

However we are moving to linux based software and systems and I need to be able to do the same thing with firefox as the primary browser. Is there a way to do this??? Please tell me there is ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Yes, I tried to see if it worked with firefox and it doesn’t…. ?

@ray326Nov 10.2005 โ€”ย Define your use of the term "persisting form data." That just generally means "saving the form data in a persistent data store and their are innumerable solutions to that requirement.

@drhowarddrfineNov 10.2005 โ€”ย That's an IE only thing under 'behaviors'. I'm sure there's a way to do it in FF but I just don't know how.

Persistance is a term used in the MSDN library.

What I am trying to do is save the information typed into the forms. Right now I'm using the sSnapshot class which is working for text boxes and check boxes but not dropdown boxes. I need a way for it to work in dropdown boxes.

I also need a way to do all these same things in firefox as the sSnapshot class only works on IE.

What are your ideas? Any help would be appreciated GREATLY!

@drhowarddrfineNov 10.2005 โ€”ย I would just go to the mozilla.org forums and ask there. What you are using now won't work in any browsers but IE.

@fireladieauthorNov 14.2005 โ€”ย It's saved in an html file... basically it saves the html with all the changes the user makes....

@ray326Nov 15.2005 โ€”ย Interesting. In the end not very useful but interesting non the less.

@yngexecNov 15.2005 โ€”ย Go to Tools>Options... & click the "Privacy" icon. Expand (if not already) the "Saved Form Information" menu, and make sure that the "Save information I enter in web page forms and the search bar" check box is checked.

You should be set

It's useful to me... with my work environment sometimes we have systems that can't be connected to the internet and so we need a way to save the forms and submit the info later.

@the_treeNov 15.2005 โ€”ย Ah ha, I was wondering why you were trying to do this. I reckon if you asked on a Linux forum they'd tell you a way of defering an HTTP request until a connection is a avaliable.

That would work if I was using the same machine all the time but I'm not.

Plus, many of the networks we work on can never be connected to the internet.

@the_treeNov 15.2005 โ€”ย Sorry but what? How would the request ideally be sent (for that matter, where to?)

We have a webserver set up that the form can be submitted to once on a system that has an internet connection.

our customer can only use a secure network with no internet connection.

@the_treeNov 15.2005 โ€”ย If the server is on the network then there shouldn't be a need for the internet at all should there?
