SEO: where do I start?

I want to become an *expert* in SEO.
At the moment I know nothing!
Where do I start??

Are there any recommended websites?
Are there any recommended books?

I was going to buy Dummys Guide to Search Engine Optimisations.
And take it from there.

Also… I was thinking of buying another title called Speed up Your Site (or something like that).
(This one has been recommended by someone.)

Any help would be appreciated.
