ARG (css padding problems)

This is a new wordpress template I made; [url]http://www.canny-cat.com[/url]

I’m a beginner at css though, and I’m having some trouble. I can’t move the posts over so they dont touch the edge of the white – ? I’ve tried padding, but it doesn’t seem to work; I have no idea what I’m doing wrong!

I also dont want there to be white behind the bottom graphic; it should look rounded, like the top.

I'm not an expert, but it works for me.
