.php opening as a microsoft picture it file

I am trying to open a .php file and my computer opens it as a microsoft “picture it” file. i changed the file associations to open with FF and then I just get garbled code. I am totally new to php…so wondering if this means my server doesn’t support php, or i need to re-upload files? thanks for any replies.

@KeveyauthorOct 21.2005 — The file is on my hosted space...I am trying to install phpBB for the heck of it, and of course nothing is easy...especially if you don't know anything about phpBB...but its fun trying to figure out. I think I may end up having to go with perl...I know that it is supported!

@MstrBobOct 22.2005 — Well of course to run phpBB, you'll need a webserver installed on your computer, and php installed on your computer. An example would be the Apache webserver and install php. You would then put all the PHP files in your web directory folder (Which for Apache is 'htdocs'). Then open up a webbrowser, and put in the webadress for phpbb. If it's installed on your own computer, you can go to:

http://localhost/place-where-you-put-phpbb/
