Background color not working in IE?

After spending days getting my pages to center in IE and FF correctly, I find out that something happened to my beautiful background color. Firefox works like a charm(is that not always the way), but IE does not like me.

@KravvitzOct 16.2005 — IE6 doesn't support max-width or min-width. So you need to specify width on #main for IE.

Give position:relative to #main and change the left property of those elements or, even better, use floats instead of relative and absolute positioning.
