Hi all! I am new on web bussinesses. I created this site for a friend and got no money, since I did it mostly to exercise and test myself.
But I would like to know how much do you think my work worths, If I was to sell it.
@Stephen_PhilbinOct 08.2005 — #Uh huh. No talking about pricing of your wares I'm afraid. Have a peek at the link in my sig if you think it seems a bit of an odd policy. ?
@jrscottOct 09.2005 — #Are you serious. You can't even say, "on average web developers with this talent would usaully price their services at ??? or whatever?" This isn't discussing price, it's just making a statement. Now I could understand if you were negotiating. Some clarity here please.
I just read the link and it's pretty alarming. This is a very vague law. Basically, you and me could be standing on the corner talking about this and it could be construed as price fixing. This law as it is written appears t be a clear violation of our rights to free speech.
Now if you and I were major players in the Web Development market and we were discussing the way we think it should be priced I can see the point. But that's not the case here.
If I wanted to ask what my work is worth on the market I should be able to ask that. This country is becoming more and more anti freedom everyday.
@David_HarrisonOct 09.2005 — #Martha, from what I can see (ie: the cleint-side), it's pretty damn good. You have excellent markup (although a couple of errors, and I see some deprecated attributes here and there) and a very eye-catching design.
There are only three points, I would make. Firstly, how come you're using a proprietary Microsoft character set? UTF-8 would do just fine.
Second, why not clean up those deprecated attributes and slap a strict DTD on the page?
Third, some of the pages seem to have <div>content</div><div>content</div><div>content</div><div>content</div> on them, perhaps the markup could be improved a tad by converting them into lists. On those same pages I also noticed that you did not close any of the <li>'s in the <div> tags and that you did not specify the parent <ul>/<ol>. I'm sure that's just a slight over-sight though and can be cleaned up by a small alteration to the server-side code.
