forms and iframes

I have a page with an iframe in it. The iframe contains a form, a login form. I fill out this form and submit (POST) it. Right now, onc submitted it refreshes the whole page (parent).

I need it to just refresh the iframe which takes me to a new page (Thank you for logging in page). Shortly after you get the new page within the iframe, the parent page refreshes and go to an entirely new page.

Hope all that makes sense.

Where do I start?

When I submit (POST) the form, I want results returned back to the same iframe. A simple Thank You message. Then it takes you to another page (parent page).
