Selection in one drop down determines another

Hi all, problem is that i have built a site for generating a thing called italian fiscal code…..

I want a drop down menu so the user can pick what city there from, then onselect of this menu io want a seperate window to open where another drop down list appears where the user can say what part of the city there from, obviously the options in the second changing depending on the selection of the first…..is this possible and if so can someone give me a helpfull hand

ive tried myself and had no luck
