Event handlers and input types

Is it possible to use event handlers in a script in the head section ? e.g. document.formName.button1.[B]whatever[/B]
plus can you change the type of an input in a script ? e.g.
document.formName.inputName.type=”whatever”

2) Yes, at least in some browsers.
