text-indent glitch? (easy prob. – I hope)

I was trying the text-indent property on a span tag. I then decided not to use it and took that attribute out of my css. Now I am getting this strange glitch where the left-margin attribute, when changed from 0 to a positve or negative number is only affecting the first line!!! it’s like it has taken on the function of the text-indent property that I had temporarily used.

what is going on here???
