Image opening in same browser window help

Does anyone know the code to do this: When you click on a thumbail, I have the larger image pop up in a separate browser window, however i want when the viewer clicks on any thumbnail, the image opens in that same pop up browser window…this will avoid many pop up windows open at the same time…please help!
