@UltimaterAug 25.2005 — Well, I guess the only way to make [b]g[/b] a function that works exactly like document.getElementById is like so:
var g=function(){return document.getElementById(arguments[0]);};
or
<i>
</i>function g(){return document.getElementById(arguments[0]);}

It seems like you said, "The pointer variable must be a member of the same object as the function." No idea why but I do know that IE is known to have waaaay more glitches in it than Firefox does.
