How GUIs work?

Hi all

I’ve been trying to find information about how the inner workings of GUIs work. All I can come up with are guides, tutorials etc. on how a given GUI pack (like SWING) works.

I need to know more on how to implement an event model, how widgets cooperate and generel stuff like that.

I’m not asking for an explantion here, but rather a link or other ressource that could help.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
