Jar files in windows

Anyone know an easy way around this problem? Windows recently started automatically opening .jar files as compressed folders, which is bugging me as most of my applications use jar executables and they don’t work anymore without having to find and select javaw.exe, which can be difficult for a lot of people who don’t know what they’re doing.

Anyone know of any solutions to this problem?

@agent_x91authorAug 17.2005 — Yeah... that's the problem. Is there any other way around this problem? Or will I have to make a .exe file if i want to make an executable which doesn't do this? It's a pain for everyone to have to find and select javaw.exe to run the jar file for the first time they run it, especially if they don't know where to find the file, etc.

@Khalid_AliAug 17.2005 — typically this should not happen. once you install jvm, all the paths should have been set and a click on a jar file should be automaticaly opened by javaw.ex. The only time this gets broken is when some other program that u install changes the jvm paths. An option may be that you re-install jvm(just guessing here)

@agent_x91authorAug 17.2005 — It doesn't actually happen on my computer, for some reason. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone else that this is the case for. For everyone else using windows that I've sent applications to, it automatically attempts to open .jar files using WinZIP, WinRAR, or microsoft's compressed folders.

@Khalid_AliAug 17.2005 — Thats precisely what I said that in some cases some application installation over rides the jvm settings for windows, a fresh installation of JVM should take care of it
