Java Script Error message

I have been getting an error message and do not know where else to seek help.

I normally use IE for my email, but sometimes the images save as bitmaps instead of gif or jpeg. So I open Opera, open hotmail, open the attachment, and save the image.

However, following some microsoft updates I cannot open the hotmail thru Opera anymore. Upon entering my password, I get a popup dialog box:

JavaScript Alert X
Please enter your password

0 Do not show this dialog again

OK

I click the X, dialog disappears, I reenter password, and the dialog reappears – hopeless loop.

This began when some Microsoft updates were made, and the same day I checked a different dialog box the said “do not show this dialog again (and it never has).

Does anyone know what happened, and what do I do about it. Microsoft and Hotmail have been no help. I’m also a novice at the computer, and need simple explanations. ?

@NevermoreApr 11.2003 — Could be being done deliberately by Microsoft - they have used scripting to make MSN.com innaccessible to none-IE browsers, or at least to make it look terrible with bad style sheets. Perhaps it is that...

@smoker2Apr 11.2003 — Have you configured opera to present itself as MSIE 6 ?

(hit F12 and choose the bottom option)

I had issues with ensim not loading because it saw opera, until I set that option.

@NightowlauthorApr 11.2003 — Cijori - Never had a problem until the MS updates and the stupid checking of that "do not show again" box. I am sure the updates are responsible for everything.

Also getting a WJView Error dialog at startup. A second computer also updated same day is also getting the WJView Error message. Microsoft denies this is their problem..

We found a corrupted JScript file on both computers. Do not know what this is, what the files are (were), what happened, nor what to do about it.

Smoker2 - Microsoft support gave me a list of things to check out, and the MSIE6 is checked.

Thank you for your posts. Need all the help I can get.

@NevermoreApr 12.2003 — What was the corrupt file called?

@NightowlauthorApr 13.2003 — The corrupted file is just

JScript Corrupted

Opera Support said that the Jscript file was unimportant and should not cause a problem.........

Wonder why and how it got there.

This computor is about 2 years old, and I bought it used last Aug. The former owner deleted most of his files and we got rid of a lot more. The only thing that seemed to be missing were the MSN games - otherwise everything appeared in good order and until late March have no problems at all.
