how can I find id from the <a id=’menulinkid’> in netscape?

I have some right click menu written in javascript, works perfectly in opera, netscape, firefox, ie.

But guess what, doesn’t work in netscape. I
will apreciate very much is you anyone can give me a hand, helping me with this problem. I think my hair is turning to white, as i can’t find a solution ?

I have this code:

[code=html]<a href=”#” id=”menulinkid”>link</a>[/code]

I listen for any right click event and then trigger the right menu. Some code from this:

[code=html]
var target = event.target != null ? event.target : event.srcElement;
if (event.button == 2 && target.id.substring(0,4) == ‘menu’)
_replaceContext = true;
else {
if (!_mouseOverContext) divContext.style.display = ‘none’;
}
[/code]

And Netscape keeps telling me that

[code=html]target.id[/code]

is undefined…

Thank you in advance..,

@MongusAug 09.2005 — Try this:
<i>
</i> var id = target.getAttribute('id');
if (event.button == 2 &amp;&amp; id &amp;&amp; id.substring(0,4) == 'menu')

Success!
