Adding Email address in OE

Hopefully you pros can help me. This is probably a simple question but I don’t have a solution. I recently created a site for my brother’s company. I registered a new domain and received the POP3 mail information from the host. If he wants to receive mail on his computer such as [email protected] do I have to load the POP data onto his computer in Outlook Express? I can’t imagine that web designers would have to physically sit at each clients computer and load in their email information but I could be wrong! Thanks in advance for the help.

@FangJul 31.2005 — Yes, the data must be added using the OE wizard. Talk your client through it or do it yourself. An install script (.ins) could be written to auto install the data into OE.

Alternatively redirect the website mail to his existing e-mail address.

@kaseyintxauthorJul 31.2005 — Thanks Fang,

I save my OE password on my computer but nobody else uses it. If several people were using the same computer I guess I'd just add them all and not check the box to save the passwords? Also, if someone has an account @theirdomain then they'd only be able to check it on machines that they'd completed the OE setup on, correct? Perhaps it's better just to link to an outside email address that can be accessed anywhere.

I set my mail up years ago and don't remember all the details. Thanks for the help.

@felgallJul 31.2005 — Many hosting services provide web mail that allows emails to be checked from anywhere.

http://www.mail2web.com/ provide a web mail service that can be used for any email account anywhere.

@kaseyintxauthorAug 01.2005 — I think my host offers something like that but I've never looked into it. Do these services allow you to check your email @yourdomain anywhere? or is it similar to a hotmail or yahoo email account?

@FangAug 01.2005 — Your host probably allows web mail service, similar to hotmail.

You can sign on from any computer to read/write e-mail or redirect it.
