can u make text area uneditable

Hello, I am into a problem where I have to make a textarea uneditable. The user should not be able to select anything from the dropdown.

The solution of onFocus=”this.blur()” works only when I give a alert on onFocus else its letting me to change the value or select a new value in the dropdown.

Is there any other soultion where I can not allow the user to select anything from the drop down in some conditions.

@KravvitzJul 26.2005 — You can add disabled="true" to <select>, but then its name/value pair won't be submitted when the form is submitted.
